issue with remote swinstall
Hello everyone,
I am having an issue trying to install a patch update depot from the hp custom patch manager. I have downloaded and created the depot called PATCHES.depot. Since the patches are so huge this time I decided to try to do a remote swinstall from a remote server.
Everything seems to work up to the swinstall.
/# swlist -l depot -s lvadm01
# Initializing...
# Target "lvadm01" has the following depot(s):
/var/spool/sw/depots/patches
/var/spool/sw/depots/diagnostics
/var/spool/sw/gcc-2.95.2-sd-11.00.depot
/home/eteam/lance/gcc
/home/eteam/lance/gcc/binutils-2.10.1-sd-11.00.depot
/eteam/lance/gcc-2.95.3-sd-11.00.depot
/eteam/lance/binutils-2.11-sd-11.00.depot
/var/adm/sw/depots/lupus/PATCHES.depot
/# swlist -s lvadm01:/var/adm/sw/depots/lupus/PATCHES.depot
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "lvadm01"...
#
# Target: lvadm01:/var/adm/sw/depots/lupus/PATCHES.depot
#
#
# No Bundle(s) on lvadm01:/var/adm/sw/depots/lupus/PATCHES.depot
# Product(s):
#
PHCO_25902 1.0 cumulative SAM/ObAM patch
PHCO_27340 1.0 printf(1) cumulative patch
PHKL_26007 1.0 Page Cache Management
PHKL_26934 1.0 Data page fault in vx_tranlogflush()

But the swinstall fails with this error.
* Beginning Selection
* Target connection succeeded for "lupus:/".
ERROR: The source you have chosen is a tape device which must be
local to the single selected target. Since the hostname of
the tape device "lvadm01" does not match the hostname of the
single selected target "lupus", this source is not allowed.
* Selection had errors.
Did I miss something.
Thanks
Richard

Re: issue with remote swinstall
How did you get your depot there ? Make sure you use swcopy to put the software from other media to disk.
