Issues With HPUX and ntp.

Hi all:

We have a number of HPUX and Linux systems throughout our enterprise. HPUX versions range from 11.0 to 11.31 and Linux ranges from RHEL4 to RHEL6. Various hardware types as well. The issue I am seeing with the HPUX appears to be version and hardware independent.

The issue I see is the point at which a representative interfaces with the business through VPN. That framework is appointed an IP address from DHCP pool - the hostname stays as before.

A few group have not changed their hostname on the Linux or OS X framework that they are utilizing, it stays as 'localhost'. The outcome is that when these frameworks associate through VPN the localhost passage in DNS is supplanted with the IP that was simply appointed to the VPN association. (The DNS worker is a WIN worker)

I have been watching, looking and expecting issues from the frameworks not accurately settling localhost, yet the solitary issue I have discovered so far is with ntp. What's more, it is just with the HPUX frameworks, the Linux frameworks are unaffected, or give off an impression of being unaffected.

The ntp is arranged with different workers and numerous companions. I have checks of ntp happen for the duration of the day through nagios and the checks are taking a gander at localhost. (check_ntp - H localhost ...)

This check has been somewhat pleasant in that it additionally reveals to us when the HPUX frameworks can presently don't resolve localhost.

I have checked/and so on/has having the 127.0.0.1 localhost loopback section as the first uncommented line. I have checked/and so forth/nsswitch.conf and records is recorded first. (On 1 HPUX worker, the nsswitch.conf records just documents - no DNS. In any case, it actually gripes about the localhost goal.) Essentially, the configs are something similar on Linux and HPUX.

What am I missing? For what reason are the Linux frameworks not revealing a similar issue? As referenced, it is just our HPUX workers.

Any assistance is incredibly refreshing.

Much obliged!

Re: Issues With HPUX and ntp.

Unfortunately the issue is not clear. Probably you wrote the message in a different language and then translated it to English.

What does not work with HP-UX?

What does "ntpq -p" show?

Does it sync to NTP server and randomly sync is lost? Or it does not sync at all?
