J5600: At boot admin level, do SEA and only see 2 of 4 drives

Can someone please shed some light on this situation.

At my company, I've only had 2 disks in a J5600 but for this one particular system, we have 4 internal disks, all being 18 gig a piece.

Why is it though at the Boot Admin level, when I do a SEA, I can only see 2 of the disks???

They are all exactly the same model of disk too.

I wanted to add that I've removed all the drives and reseated them... also I have an LVD wide SCSI terminator on the back of the J5600. Its the type of terminator with a little green light on it.

If you cant see them with sea then they are not bootable disks...

Are they part of VG00?

What does lvlnboot -v vg00 say?
Unix, the other white meat.

Re: J5600: At boot admin level, do SEA and only see 2 of 4 drives

I just figured it out as I have a bad disk. I am at the PC equiv boot admin level... and do an "SEA" and could only see 2 of the disks. When I moved them around, and put 2 other different ones in there, I could then see all 4. So I further narrowed it down to one bad disk.

Thanks for trying to help and I got lucky on this one.

My best guesses: a) duplicate SCSI ID's on these drives b) bad drive(s).

Do you "see" these drives with ioscan after boot? (Assuming that you have an OS loaded).
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Angie,

I am glad that your problem is solved. I like to add a tip.

If you do a sea ipl all the possible boot devices will be listed. You can boot of them with the bo P command.
