How do I setup non -HP network printers ??

Is is as simple as picking dumbplot model from the list ??

For non-HP printers you should set these as remote printers via SAM. Try :
"SAM" -> Printers/plotters -> add Remote Printer/Plotter.

what emulation is your printer set to ? if set to hp , then use jetadmin and select the hp printer as relevant, you will see it uses hpnpf program to print to the printer as the filter. If you have no hp emulation on the printer , you have to select a dumb model script and the tailor it i.e. you have to set the FILTER hpnpf etc.. in the dumb model script to print to the printer rather than using cat , to print to the file .
