JFS 3.1 to 3.3 upgrade
Hi,
Is there any effect or any harm if JFS 3.1 layout on a server is upgraded to 3.3 layout?

Re: JFS 3.1 to 3.3 upgrade
Hi,
The reason for the upgrade to JFS3.3 is that if we now need to reduce a filesystem JFS will move any extents in use on the area we want to reduce before reducing. With versions prior to 3.3 if there was only 1 extent in use on the area you are trying to reduce it would fail (which was a real bummer). That and the fact that 3.1 is old and will eventually die - or replace it with the newer 3.3
