k class hpux 10.20 won't boot
After successfully extending the volume group /dev/vg00 with 2 additional disks
I wanted to extend the logical volume group supporting /var. Instead of going
into single user mode I accidentally rebooted the server(init 0 instead of init
s). Now the server won't reboot. During the boot process after io
initialization it stops at the point where the volume groups are discovered and
activated. It gets pass and activates volume group /dev/vg00 but stops at the
last volume group with no "Activated volume group". When I try to recover with
the support CD or install hpux with the install/core CD the boot process stops
at "Scanning for system IO devices". By the way hpux -lm didn't work.
Do I have a lvm problem or a hardware problem? When I extended the /dev/vg00
with the 2 new disk drives should I have prep the new disks with pvcreate -B
option?

Re: k class hpux 10.20 won't boot
Have you tried booting into single-user mode and continue your process ?

Re: k class hpux 10.20 won't boot
Thanks to Robert for his suggestion.
I booted the system via isl>hpux -is boot
A faulty disk caused all lvm commands to hang the console whenever they are
used against the related lvm groupings(vg or lv). I finally had to vgexport the
affected volume group to get it out of /etc/lvmtab. After this the system
booted to multi-user mode. What is still not clear to me is why the console
port hangs and ctrl c, ctrl d, or shift ctrl | don't recover control. I had to
turn the key to start the boot process.
