log & oldlog in /var/adm/lp
Can you tell me if the log and the oldlog files in the /var/adn/lp directory
can be cleaned each night.
I notice these files (log) grow and grow and grow, can I echo that file and
clean it out. Would like to add the that to my backup script so it cleans up
each night.
My /var directory is up to 94%, as a new System Administrator and realtively
new to Unix trying to decide what can go, be cleaned etc etc.
Running on HP9000 HP-UX 10.20
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: log & oldlog in /var/adm/lp
The best way for you to clean out log files that exist in /var is to use SAM.
In SAM if you goto routine tasks then System Log Files, you can select the log
files you want to either trim or empty and yes
/var/adm/lp/oldlog and /var/adm/lp/log are two of the logs you can trim.
