K200 HPUX 11.11 adding Modem
Hi,
I've installed hpux 11.11 on my K200 but the external modem is no longer working. I've added the following line to inittab
ttp5:234:respawn:/usr/lbin/uucp/uugetty -r -t 60 -h ttyd0p7 19200
but I guess the tty is incorrect. How do I determine the correct tty for the modem? Do I need to create a device file or something for the modem?
Thanks,
Tony

Re: K200 HPUX 11.11 adding Modem
Hi Tony,
Probably the easiest way is to use SAM - it'll create the device files for you and add the appropriate inittab entry.
If the device file doesn't exist you will be seeing a fair number of errors in syslog as it'll log each attempt at respawning the getty. I'd suggest that you remove your inittab entry and run init q before using SAM.
You should also be aware that if you are using the external modem connector on the core i/o card (rather than a separate mux) that this port is only available if configured from the console, and if remote access is disabled.
regards,
Darren.

Calm down. It's only ones and zeros...
