Hi,
I would have gurus to comment if it is a good idea to keep a copy of OS on disk (somewhere and no x mode). I have observed that tape recovery is taking 'years' so I guess it might be an option.
What I would get is if it is having implication.
Thanks,
Steven

Re: Keep an OS copy on hard drive
Hi Steven,
The answer is yes you could; but if your building is on fire are you going to take the time to open up a machine and remove a disk.
Normally, make_tape_recovery is not a terribly slow process. It is possible you have a very large vg00?
Regards, Clay

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Solution
Yes it is actually a very good idea in cae you have an extra disk , since in case of OS crash you can always go to the other disk for booting , and in case of fire you already have the make recovery tape stored far awy from the building .

Re: Keep an OS copy on hard drive
If I make a tape copy of whatever in /dev/vg00 such as /usr /var/ ....., would that be substituted as what make_recovery_tape backs up?
