We are upgrading oracle form 8.1.7 to 9.2.0.7. We are having HP UX 11.00 as OS. Can any one help me what are the kernel parameters required to be updated for this upgrade.

Re: kernel parameter details for upgrading oracle from 8.1.7 to 9.2.0.7
a few other things to consider first:
End of support for 11.00 is 31 Dec 2006
http://www.hp.com/softwarereleases/releases-media2/history/slide2.html
And , according to metalink doc 190435.1:
End of Error Correction Support 31 July 2007
As to the kernel params and patches required:
Please read Oracle docs A97350-05 and A96167-01

http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/pdf/A96167_01.pdf

Re: kernel parameter details for upgrading oracle from 8.1.7 to 9.2.0.7
first of all, why not 10g?
there is a script from metalink that can help you configure your environment before installation of the database - VALIDATE
it performs the following tests:
* OS certified?
* Other O_Hs in PATH?
* oraInventory perms
* /tmp adequate?
* Swap (in Mb)
* RAM (in Mb)
* SwapToRAM OK?
* Disk Space OK?
* Kernel params OK?
* Links and libs OK?
* Got ld,nm,ar,make?
* ulimits OK?
* User in /etc/passwd?
* Got OS packages?
* Got OS patches?
* Other OUI up?
* Group in /etc/group?
* Input ORACLE_HOME
* ORACLE_HOME valid?
* O_H perms OK?
* Umask set to 022?
* LDLIBRARYPATH unset?
* SHLIB_PATH unset?
see note: 283731.1 - Pre-Install checks for 10gR1 RDBMS (10.1.x) - HPUX Platforms
hope this helps!
kind regards

Re: kernel parameter details for upgrading oracle from 8.1.7 to 9.2.0.7
this appears to be the currently quite often needed Upgrade for older systems in SAP environment ;-)
If this is SAP, check SAP-Net (http://service.sap.com/instguides -> Other Documentation) for the corresponding guides.
There may be some additional Tasks required for the application in addition to the Upgrade (i.E. in SAP Environment adjust client software and environment and SAP Kernel)
Good luck
