kernel rebuild failes

I have an L class server that I am trying to install patches on. When the kernel rebuilds it failes with the following:
ld: Unsatisfied symbol "wsio_get_service" in file /usr/conf/lib/libpci.a[hcd.o]

I have tried to build the kernel manually, moved out all the .o files in /system/build and still receive the same message.

Any ideas.

Thanks!

Re: kernel rebuild failes

Am not sure if it helps you as it much complicated to debug. Try installing PHKL_21270, PHKL_20165 patches and see if it works. Before installing the patches, make sure you have a make_recovery tapes available.

Re: kernel rebuild failes

it appears that you may have a patch PHKL_20478 that is being loaded that is missing the fact that it has a dependency for PHKL_20165
I owuld recommend obtaining this and either adding it to your bundle, or installing this before the main patch bundle, bearing in mind taht PHKL_20165 has itself got dependency for PHKL_18543

Re: kernel rebuild failes

Hi,
I would suggest to install PHKL_20165 (with reinstall filesets option set on).

Re: kernel rebuild failes

Although patch PHKL_21065 refers to B, C and J workstations (mine is an L class) it does not have any hardware dependencies so I guess I will be okay to install it.

I do have patch PHKL_20478 installed, when I pull up the descripion of the patch it does not show a dependency of PHKL_20165.

Patch PHKL_18543 has previously been installed and configured on the server.

I will not be able to get an outage until next Monday. I will assign points after I have the patch installed.

Thanks for the input

Exactly! this has been noted and the patching people alerted.
