L1000 and APC UPS
How to connect and configure an UPS (APC Smart UPS 2200 with software PowerChute Plus 4.2.3) to L1000 with HPUX 11.0? The console is connected to 'console' trunk. The UPS software needs one dedicated serial port. Which cable do I need, W-cable A5191-63001 or M-cable A6144-63001. What are the installation steps and which patches are needed?

Re: L1000 and APC UPS
I set this up on an RS6000 some time ago. The documentation should tell you which cable to use and what patches are required (if any). If not give APC a call.
The serial port is defined in /etc/powerchute.ini
If the serial port is not configured you may get rubbish on the console screen. Someone deleted my powerchute.ini and I spent ages trying to find out why the console was filling with rubbish!
Regards,
Dave.
