On this workstation my lancard goes at 10Mb. I have installed the 100BaseT drivers, but it doesn't go at 100Mb. I have installed on this ws the hpux 11.00 and this ws (C110) requires 100BaseT drivers.
I have 2 problems:
1) i have to know what kind of bus has this lancard - i tried with lanscan and lanadmin, but it isn't written, so i will install the exact drivers.
2) how can i know if this lancard goes at 10 Mb or 100Mb - more: i want to know if the lancard goes at 10mb because this is the type of card, or because i have to install the drivers.
If i have to install the drivers, which i have to install? I think the drivers are on the 1st application cd, but i don't know which. But the problem is the bus. I think it's ISA, but i'm not sure.
Thanks

Re: lan card
Typing 'ioscan -funC lan' should tell you what kind of lancard is on your system.
It should report something like:
lan 0 0/0/0/0 btlan3 CLAIMED INTERFACE HP PCI 10/100Base-TX Core
/dev/diag/lan0 /dev/ether0
lan 1 0/2/0/0 btlan5 CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A5230A/B5509BA PCI 10/100Base-TX Addon
/dev/diag/lan1 /dev/ether1 /dev/lan1
lan 2 0/6/0/0 btlan5 CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A5230A/B5509BA PCI 10/100Base-TX Addon
/dev/diag/lan2 /dev/ether2 /dev/lan2

Dan

Re: lan card
lan 0 8/0/20/0 btlan3 CLAIMED INTERFACE
PCI (10110019) --Built-in #3 /dev/ether0
So the bus is PCI. What drivers do i have to install??? what about the lancard...can i know what type is it (hardware)...

Re: lan card
The "builtin" LAN on a C110 only supports 10BaseT Half duplex speed 10Mbit/sec. ioscan should show you the lan driver is a "lan2". You need to use a B5509BA add-on card to run at 100Mbit/sec half or full duplex mode.

Re: lan card
Sorry, I gave you one flag in excess for ioscan. Typing a bit too fast....
Please report the output of 'ioscan -fnC lan' - as the -u forces ioscan to report only usable devices instead of actual hardware.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: lan card
The C110 has Eisa Form-factor HSC/GSC+ slots and not PCI slots, so the B5509BA I suggested earlier is incorrect, you need the J3515 card card instead. J3515A - hsc eisa form factor one-port with two connections (rj-45/aui) 100base-t adapter for hp9000 d-class and r-class and workstations.
If the system is really some other kind of box, then we need to make a recommendation specific to that kind of system.
Hope this does help,

Re: lan card
The report of the ioscan -fnC lan is the following:
lan 0 8/16/6 lan2 CLAIMED INTERFACE Built-in LAN /dev/diag/lan0 /dev/ether0
I did also the ioscan -funC lan, but it gaves me the sam ioscan -fnC lan output.
If i enter with sam in the networkin and communic. i have:
Card type: Ethernet
Interface Name: lan0
Hardware Path: 8/16/6
Status: Enabled
Then ip and subnet mask and
Station Address (hex): 0060B00741AE
With the lanadmin command:
Speed: 10000000 (so 10MB)
Type (value)= ethernet-csmacd(6)
So nothing changed..what should i do??
I hope you can help me.

SolutionYou tell us that you've installed the J3515A software....
... the problem is that you don't have that card.
Brian was suggesting you to add a card, not to install the software for a card you don't have :-(
The only ethernet interface you have is the 'standard' built-in one, as reported by ioscan. This means that you will only have a 10Mb interface. That's a hardware limitation, and no software installation will ever improve it.
You should do a 'swremove' of the software you installed by mistake (J3515A).
Best regards,
Dan

Re: lan card
As Brian told you here above, the Built-in lan on a C110 is a 10BaseT Half Duplex interface.
As I'm not member of HP staff, I can only give you Dan's "official" answer, but a careful reading of the documentation that came with the C110 will surely confirm these specifications.
:)

Re: lan card
I'm talking about the documentation you should have received when you got the C110... most probably ages ago !!
I didn't find it anywhere... :(
You could post a request in the "workstations" forum
