Did you install any patchset and not reboot the system later?. I have seen this behaviour during such times.
If you get a chance, reboot the server.

Try full path
/usr/sbin/lanscan
and
/etc/lanscan

dmesg should also fail
If you have done the above you need to rebnoot.
You could also check the lanscan command, Ibelieve there may be an option to specify an alternate system file, but cannot remember for sure.
e.g. lanscan /stand/vmunix.prev

Have you relinked a kernel recently & have yet to reboot?
Also lanscan will not output if the NICs fail to bind at boot. But I doubt this if you say they're functional
What does ioscan -fC lan output?
