lanscan no output

HP-UX 11.11 system - lanscan returns no output. No error messages. Networking is up and functional. lanadmin works. DLPI is loaded. When I type lanscan, it returns me to the prompt. If I type lanscan -v, I get the ---- divider line only.

Re: lanscan no output

Hi Elizabeth,

Did you install any patchset and not reboot the system later?. I have seen this behaviour during such times.

If you get a chance, reboot the server.

Re: lanscan no output

you have probably regenned a kernel, and not yet rebooted.
dmesg should also fail
If you have done the above you need to rebnoot.

You could also check the lanscan command, Ibelieve there may be an option to specify an alternate system file, but cannot remember for sure.
e.g. lanscan /stand/vmunix.prev

Re: lanscan no output

Hi Elizabeth,

Have you relinked a kernel recently & have yet to reboot?
Also lanscan will not output if the NICs fail to bind at boot. But I doubt this if you say they're functional

What does ioscan -fC lan output?

Jeff

Re: lanscan no output

Also take a look at PHNE_25388 (LAN product cumulative patch) if you do not have it installed. A minor bug in lanscan command is fixed in this patch but non suggest the symptom you see here.
