ldap client

hello! I have a question about using ldap on hpux. I currently have hpux 11.00 and I have an openldap server in linux. I was wondering how could I authenticate to the hpux 11.00 using the entries in the openldap server. I don't have any ldap server installed in my hpux. I heard that there is a need to install ldapux. But I'm not sure if I really need to download it since I'm just connecting to the openldap server? maybe I just need to configure a file? thanks so much! any help is really appreciated!

Hi Melissa,

take a look this link,

http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo.pl?productNumber=J4269AA

It is free and you can download only the if you like, there also is a document HP - LDAP-UX Integration Documentation in this link.

Hope it helps,

Robert-Jan.

Re: ldap client

thanks for the info robert. I would like to ask if anybody tried setting up the hpux client to talk to an openldap server in another box. I read somewhere that you need to include the hpldapux.schema into the openldap server. my question is do I only need to do this if I installed openldap to the same HP box or I still need to do this if it was in another box like linux. thanks so much for any help!

Re: ldap client

Hi Melissa,

I have attached a schema file for LDAP-UX for OpenLDAP. After you configure in this schema file on the OpenLDAP server, run the /opt/ldapux/config/setup program to configure LDAP-UX. Once the setup program discovers the schema is already installed on the server it will not attempt to install it and skip to configuration.

This schema file is not likely up to date with the latest configuration profile standard, and is provided without warranty.

Good Luck.

Re: ldap client

I apologize for a second message. A collegue of mine passed on to me a more recent version of the OpenLDAP schema file. See attached.
