Lexmark Printing

Hi,

Has anyone had experience of using Lexmark External Print Servers on HP-UX? We use these with RS/6000s and want to print from HP-UX with them. I cannot seem to find any drivers or info on the Lexmark/HP web sites though Lexmark claim HP-UX is supported. Any hints?

Thanks,

Paul.

Re: Lexmark Printing

Hi,

you could try adding a remote printer with SAM -> >Printers and Plotters -> LP Spooler -> Printers and Plotters -> Actions -> Add Remote Printer/Plotter:

Printer Name: lp queue name (free choice)
Remote System Name: IP-Address of the print server
Remote Printer Name: logical port name of the print server(port)

Re: Lexmark Printing

You might try getting the latest verison of JetAdmin and add the printer as a network printer. JetAdmin may give you error messages, but ignore the messages and add it anyway. Try the setting it up as a laserjet5 printer (using net_lj4x model script). No guarantee it will work, but it might.

Re: Lexmark Printing

Hi,

Thanks for your help. I tried the JetDirect software but it was having none of it! I can configure it as a remote printer which appears to work fine as a basic text printer.

Re: Lexmark Printing

Lexmark puts out software called MarkVision for Unix. This will add a program that will have all the Lexmark drivers and you can easily set up printers/queues from it. To load it doesn't require a reboot, and it works well on our HP-UX 10.20 and 11.00 servers. Download it for free at www.lexmark.com/software/unix.html
