ll command times out

When I am in the root directory of an HPUX 11.0 system and enter the ll command, the command does not respond. Instead, I get "NFS server (pid646@/net) not responding still trying". I have to CTL C to break out of it. Any ideas??
Sorry if this is in the wrong group, still new at this.

Re: ll command times out

That usually happens if your automounter isn't configured correctly. If you don't need it, disable it in /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf (AUTOMOUNT=0). If you need it, my guess is that the nameresolution has a problem. Make sure that /etc/hosts, DNS, NIS and /etc/rc.config.d/netconf have consistent information about your hostname and IP address. You can customize /etc/nsswitch.conf if necessary.
Good luck!
