load and stress

We are getting a couple of new N class servers and we are about to set up the systems for testing. We are not having any tools to do the load and stress right now. Once we load the os and all the apps what would be a good procedure to determine the load and stress for these servers. It is going to be set up with Mcserviceguard. Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Re: load and stress

WIthout glanceplus/measureware, you could use "sar", but "sar" does not give you the detailed data that glanceplus/measureware can.

Re: load and stress

brian,

The best thing that would go with HP systems is Measureware. Once it is up and running, it will collect data that can be analyzed anytime. Check this thread out.

Otherwise, you have the default sar that can be used to measure the performance of the system.

Keep /usr/lbin/sa/sa1 in the cron job and it will collec the stats that can be analyzed anytime. You need to create a directory /var/adm/sa for this. Check out the man page for sa1.
