Log searching open license tool


I am looking for a Splunk like open license tool since Splunk is not open - licensed. Can somebody suggest an open source tool like splunk which they are using in their enviroment for log searching and log analysis.

appears that Splunk isn't necessarily just a log analyzer....so it might help if you stated *what* you wanted to accomplish.
