Login prompt appears after 2 minutes

If I make a telnet session to a HPUX 10.20 machine it takes about 2 minutes before the login prompt appears.
Pinging from another HPUX box 1 to HPUX box 2 is very fast and vice versa.

I have rebooted the machine, no luck. Anyone has any ideas?
First think then act !!!

Re: Login prompt appears after 2 minutes

Hi Marcel,

it could be a resolution problem.
What does your system use, DNS or files?

# nslookup -swtrace

or

look for contents of

/etc/nsswitch.conf file.
What about ftp?

Best regards,
Ettore

Re: Login prompt appears after 2 minutes

Check your /etc/nsswitcch.conf file whether you have mentioned any other nacming databases for passwd, gorup entries.

Also, check your /etc/profile and .profile to see any sleep command has been running.

Also, check your /etc/pam.conf file for any authentication method changes

Also, When you login to the system, check your /var/log/syslog/syslog.log file for any errors.

-Thanks
Vijay
