Re: login
What is your console? What is the system?
> i get asked to supply the system password.
What does this mean? What is a "system
password"? What did you do, exactly?

As usual, an actual transcript showing what
happened might save everyone a lot of time
and trouble.
> [...] when i login as a user then su to
> root [...]
Did you do this at the console, too, or
somewhere else?

Re: login
How did you check this???
U can try copy and paste root passwd and try.(write in a notepad copy and paste at passwd prompt )
Changing passwd with no special character would be helpful to see if it is related to special character.

Kapil

Re: login
You of course can quote the "@" with a "\" if you have your heart set on using the "@". :-)

Re: login
You have Revision E.02.26 as MP firmware, current version is E.03.30.
Consider this.
Have fun!
;-)
BTW, assigning points to all helped you is a good way to say "thank you".
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
