Re: login

can have more than one reason:
sheck whit sam is user is alowed to log in on the console:
SAM Users
select user
actions
Modify Security Policies...
General User Account Policies...
Authorize User to Boot to Single-User State: [ Yes

ore it can be that the user is locked:
run:
/usr/lbin/getprpw [username]
lockout must be 0000000

What is your console? What is the system?

What does this mean? What is a "system
password"? What did you do, exactly?

As usual, an actual transcript showing what
happened might save everyone a lot of time
and trouble.

Did you do this at the console, too, or
somewhere else?

The user is not locked was first check.

User does have permission to login to console.

Re: login

can u try after "su" to change your password?

login as normal user.
then su to root
after login
change your password

then try to login using root and password

before that please check if root user is blocking in any tty sessions or not

Re: login

Depending on your terminal settings/emulator/... the sign "@" may not be "@" but "q" or anything else - check this.

Hope this helps!

Re: login

>>>nope checked that as well prints it out correctly

How did you check this???
U can try copy and paste root passwd and try.(write in a notepad copy and paste at passwd prompt )
Changing passwd with no special character would be helpful to see if it is related to special character.

Re: login

Wayne,

Have a look at this doc.

Title: Login fails with special character "#" or "@" in user passwords
Document ID: emr_na-c00936696-1

Re: login

This sounds reasonable and also explains why it is not working on a console login but it is working with su.
Maybe it is better to use another password ...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

You of course can quote the "@" with a "\" if you have your heart set on using the "@". :-)

Re: login

It's not related to the problem, but you should check the servers firmware to prevent other problems.
You have Revision E.02.26 as MP firmware, current version is E.03.30.

Consider this.

Have fun!

;-)

BTW, assigning points to all helped you is a good way to say "thank you".

Hope this helps!
