lp problems

Scheduler is running and all jobs are accepted and seem to be printed fine, but actually nothing is really printed!
This is what I get when I type in:
# lpstat -t
scheduler is running
...

lpstat: execlp failed
lpstat: execlp failed
no entries

Any help?

Re: lp problems

Maybe /var/spool/lp/pstatus is corrupted. Try this :-

1) - Start sam and do a save of the printer spooler configuration.
- remove *ALL* printers
- restore the spooler config again from sam.

This will recreate the pstatus file again.

Re: lp problems

You may have more than one independent scheduler running. It is common to have several lpsched processes running, but all "additional" ones should be children of the first. If you have more than one lpsched which are *not* children of the first, stop the scheduler, kill any remaining lpsched processes, restatrt teh scheduler.

You may also have a corrupted outputq. If so, stop the scheduler, remove /var/spool/lp/outputq, restart the scheduler.

Re: lp problems

Hi,

Seems related to a corruption in the printer status files: Simple try is to: Run SAM - go to-
Printers and Plotters->LP Spooler->Save/Restore
Spooler Configuration.
Actions->Save Spooler Configuration then
Actions->Restore Spooler Configuration.
