Re: LVM

Shalom,

LVM is the base logical volume manager that ships with HP-UX. If I am correct it is not a veritas product, but has been in use since at least HP-UX 10.0 or 9.

Basic Veritas Volume Mananger starting shipping with 11i v1 as an alternative to LVM. Its had some difficulty getting accepted by the wider sysadmin community but has free mirroring of the root volume group, which LVM does not have. So that provides value.

The vertias product is called vxvm and I generally remove it from a system when I build it.

Re: LVM

Just go to docs.hp.com and search on "VxVM". A rather good one is the Veritas Volume Manager Migration Guide. It has side by side comparisons of the various LVM and VxVM commands.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
