lynx -dump http://....
which gives you a fine ASCII version of the web page (easy to parse with perl)
for ascii-browsing it's fine, but if that's the aim, please also have a look at w3m, which is now capable of showing simple images in-line in color xterm. Astonishing simple, fast and efficient.
