mad -u root

Hi
I was making my daily checklist and found this command increasing the CPU utilization on my server: mad -u root
I had never seen it before, so I need to know what is it used for.
There is no manual entry.
Can anybody help me?

It one of the hpservices commands. Look under /opt/hpservices/bin.

It's actually invoked as an rc command:

/sbin/init.d/hpservices

If you aren't really using hpservices then you can issue an "/sbin/init.d/hpservices stop" command and then disable the restart by editing the corresponding config file in /etc/rc.config.d.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
