Mail error

Hi,

I am getting a error when running mail from the command line. It hangs and then says...

/var/mail/root: Lockf deadlock detection
mail: can not lock on /var/mail/root after 100 tries

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance,

Colin.

Re: Mail error

I have not seen it before but I would check to see if the permissions on the /var/mail/root file look different from any of the other user mail files.

Re: Mail error

Hi,

You get this message when more then one process are trying to lock/release this file.

Re: Mail error

Probably some other programm accessing the file. Try running 'fuser /var/mail/root'.
