mail sending problem

Dear Sir,

I have two hp ux server & when i try to mail from one server to another...the following error occur..pls help me.
BOTH SERVER ARE IN SAME NETWORK.

Following is the Error.....

From: Mail Delivery Subsystem
To: root@prdserver
Subject: Returned mail: Data format error

The original message was received at Fri, 10 Nov 2006 22:08:44 +0530 (IST)
from root@localhost

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
abcd@appserver

----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to appserver:
>>> MAIL From: SIZE=79
<<< 501 Sender domain must exist
501 Data format error

--Press any key to go on.--

This message contains data in an unrecognized format, message/delivery-status,
which can either be viewed as text or written to a file.

What do you want to do with the message/delivery-status data?
1 -- See it as text
2 -- Write it to a file
3 -- Just skip it
.......

Thanks,

yogesh

Re: mail sending problem

Maybe you hace error in resolving server names. Can you check on both servers thet networking is ok and names are resolved correclty:

serverA# host serverB
serverB# host serverA

In case you have errors add entries in hosts file and/or fix nsswitch.conf.

Re: mail sending problem

Also add the FQDN of each host in both /etc/hosts file

ip.ip.ip.ip prdserver prdserver.yourdomain.com
ip.ip.ip.ip prdserverb prdserverb.yourdomain.com
