mail troubleshooting

I can't send email from my system. I just configured an L2000, but I can't send email via elm or mailx. What are the steps necessary for trouble shooting?

I did that and sendmail starts fine. But I still can't elm thinks it's sending mail, but I don't ever receive it.

OK. I had a .forward I was unaware of which forwards root to my outlook account (jprofaizer@rgare.com). Thus, I can't send email to my outlook. When I send it to root, it works fine.

You need to set your DS macro to point to your MX server...probably an exchange server.
then restart sendmail
use sendmail -v to test and see what is going on.
sendmail -v user@domain.com < mailfile
