mailx

We use mailx to mail system messages to analyst. We cut over to a new exchange server. We were running openmail on a unix system. Now exchange is a Win2K system. I can use mailx fine on all our other unix systems and retrieve through exchange. However, our solaris system won't send to exchange using mailx. I issued a mailx command from the solaris prompt and it just sits there until you kill it. Any files I should check.

Re: mailx

Look for sendmail.cf file in your solaris box.
In sendmail.cf file you need to change DS entry.
The entry would be,
DSexchange server name.

Restart the sendmail process to read the changes made.

Re: mailx

Hi,

Check the DS line in your sendmail.cf file (probably needs to be the same as your other unix servers).

Is your alias file working ok:

sendmail -bv recipient

if it's still failing, we may have to put some debugging on...

Re: mailx

sendmail.cf file should be the same on unix server, Do you have any other solaris server works well with the sendmail ?
Add DS as said earlier It's worth a try

Re: mailx

Hi,

Normally it goes towards the top of the file before the ruleset definitions in the "local info" section, near where the sendmail.cw file is defined.

If you use the m4 method of creating the file, it *should* do it for you.

Re: mailx

More than likely when they switched the Exchange server they didn't allow it to relay from your HP-9000 box. Contact them and make sure they relay mail from your IP address.
