I create a make recovery tape every two weeks on my two hp systems K200 and a 5470 and it is the best thing out there it has saved me hours after failed upgrades.
My question is our company is doing a Disaster recovery test at an off site site that will provide like equipment and stuff.
What do I have to verify with this company so that I can use my tapes during this test.
I will have the make-recovery tape, full back ups. I also have a directory that is backed up every night with all the configuration files and printouts from diskinfo lvol data, passwd groups and all that stuff and files.
My concern is with the make-recovery tape working.

Re: Make Recovery Question
I hope you mean make_tape_recovery make_recovery is obsolete.
You need to do that test.
A DR vendor wanting your business should be able to provide the hareware for a test.
HP has peformance centers around the country. You can if you have hardware that's still made arrange for a test. It has to be done through your HP rep. Usually the prospect of doing a hardware bid will get them motivated.
Its a fun proces. We took our DR tapes and had our production running at the Performance center right before lunch.

Re: Make Recovery Question
Yes, I am from the old school shorter words are easier. It is make_tape.
We have a contract with SUNGARD for our DR and we are in a process of getting a big client on board but one of there requirements is that we have DR test completed. My HP systems are only two systems that intermingle with 60+ Sun systems. I have rebuilt the HP systems in-house from the tapes, but I have never gone to another place to do it.
