make_tape_recovery create non root vg?
Notice following same (similar) in nake_tape_recovery man page:
#make_tape_recovery -AvI -x inc_entire=vg00 -x inc_entire=vg01 -a /dev/rmt/0mn
Question is if we run the recovery tape, does it create vg01 as well? If not, could it be a problem? Any workaround?

Re: make_tape_recovery create non root vg?
Hi,
Normally we should Ignite to take a backup of the root VG and not other filesystems. Even when you backup the root VG not all the files are backed up. Only subsets of /usr, /var and /opt are backed up.
Moreover the size of the VG01 also matters. What is the size of the tape which you are using ??

Re: make_tape_recovery create non root vg?
Hi:
I think Patrick Wallek answered this question for you in your previous thread:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x4f128f960573d611abdb0090277a778c,00.html
The key element is whether or not you are reinstalling on the same hardware configuration (same server) as from which you made the Ignite recovery tape. If yes, then I'd expect it to should 'vgimport' vg01 and reload the data on the tape to it.
If on the otherhand, your hardware configuration is different, as for instance when you restore at an offsite Disaster Recovery center, then, I think you will find that Ignite fails to complete a 'vgimport' because it cannot exactly match disk device files.
Regards!

Re: make_tape_recovery create non root vg?
Hi
Ignite was designed to make a recovery system for your server and whilst vgs other than vg00 can be included it is not the best practice.
To protest your server backup as nornal your data and also use Ignite to build a bootable tape to recover your operating system, this normally is just vg00.
