make_tape_recovery on Itanium w/Ignite C6.x.x
I have been trying to test a restore from tape on a system. I have used the 2-step media recovery process as described in IA64KBRC00015995. I have verified the contents of the tape via tar, and I have verified that the log file contains no errors or warnings.
I have now stepped down to Ignite C6.0.109 from the C6.2.x latest version. Since the make_tape_recovery takes two hours, it is very time-consuming to test this.
After selecting the recover from tape option in the boot process, I receive the error "Cannot switch media source - it is not a complete Ignite-UX source. You will need to use another Ignite-UX source."
Can anyone say "Yes, I have successfully restored an Itanium 11.23 system from an Ignite tape created via make_tape_recovery"?
TIA,
Victoria

Did you rewind the tape after the tar check ?

Re: make_tape_recovery on Itanium w/Ignite C6.x.x
The Itanium requires a two-step recovery process: boot from CD/DVD and recover from tape. Consequently, you must have created the tape with the _exact same version_ of Ignite that is on the CD or DVD from which you are booting.
