make_tape_recovery to disk?
Hi, I need to fix a hp9000 running hp-ux 11iv1.
vg00 is configured with two disks using mirrordisk/ux, but both disks seem to be failing. I tried to add a third disk but it hung while trying to sync it from the other disks.
I want to use make_tape_recovery, but the system doesnt have a local tape drive.
The question is, is it possible to use make_tape_recovery so it will store the recovery information on a disk instead of tape?
As I have spare disks this would be a good of way of backing this system up before the disks in vg00 fail and maybe I could use this backup to create set up the new disk.
Thanks,
G. Denyer

Re: make_tape_recovery to disk?
Are you talking about making an Ignite Server? See the following thread it might help:

Re: make_tape_recovery to disk?
You can set up the spare disk as a backup for the entire file systems.
procedure follows,
connect the spare HD to the system,
make it vg
make it bootable disk
create lv es
make file system on each lv
duplicate fs from live system to the new created fs, prefer cpio
next time when boot, choose the new boot path
