printer driver name

i have the printer issue in hp-ux 10.20 printer is dot matrix printer and it,s connected to jetdirect device i want to know what driver name being use for this printer , pls help me how to check printer driver name and how to change it,

Well you can use dumb model, hope it will work. Btw, what is the printer model and does it has jetdirect support.

printer is Epson FX890 and it has the jet direct support

Note: UNIX does not have a concept of printer drivers. That's left to the application. It has interface files (aka model scripts) and in your case, you want the dumb printer. You can also modify the dump script for a serial or parallel port to invoke hpnpf (the JetDirect filter program).

Hi,

at 11i the 'real' printer scripts are located in the directory
/etc/lp/interfaces/model.orig

It may be, that at 10.20 the location was under /usr/spool/lp/... or /var/spool/lp/...

Open the file with your printername; in the header you'll find (hopefully) something like

#@(#) $Header: .../net_lj4x.psh

For current supported printer models under HP/UX 10.20 reference directory:

/usr/lib/lp/model

If changing a models definition copy it to another file. Example cp -p dumb mydumb

Then edit mydunb

When finshed refer to lpadmin or jetadmin and reference new model mydumb.

Do a: man lpadmin
