MAXIMUM GROUP NUMBER

HI
I have users for which the maximum number of user group is exceeded (21).
This limitation appears to be defined in /usr/include/limits.h

how to increase this parameter ?
should i change the value and then rebuild a new Kernel ?

Thanks for your help.

Re: MAXIMUM GROUP NUMBER

Hi,
As far as the limits go, take a look at http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xb4a83fa720f3d5118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html

I don't think you can increase this parameter ... but maybe someone else has a way ...

Re: MAXIMUM GROUP NUMBER

Hi,

i agree with Tom. We also ran into this problem and asked hp how to increase that value. They told us to be careful about that. In other words: Don't even think about it!

Re: MAXIMUM GROUP NUMBER

Hi

I have also neen there with this.

If you want to change it ask HP to change it.

Otherwise leave it alone.

You can (Personal experience) make your machine very unhappy by playing with the fixed values of the kernel.

I believe that the current situation is

NGROUPS_MAX in /usr/include/limits.h

NGROUPS for kernel in h/param.h

Both 20 and currently should stay like that.
