mc: 0x0 sense information
When I try to use mc (e.g. mc -p /dev/rac/c13t2d0 -q) I get the following error message (after a while): "ERROR: 0x0 No Sense : 0x0 No additional sense information".
With uma I am able to communicate with the library.
Can someone tell me what might be wrong?

Re: mc: 0x0 sense information
You might have a bad drive -
Check the error log for the tape unit - you might have messages like --
Failed to unload tape from drive, Drive module failed to eject the tape (63, 36)
Failed to unload tape from drive, Drive module failed to eject the tape (63, 36)
Failed to unload tape from drive, Failed to detect that the transport has gotten a tape (63, 48)
If so you might have to get the drive replaced.

Re: mc: 0x0 sense information
Thanks for your answers.
The strange thing: the uma utility does not have any problems.
I tested all drives with Data Protector. Not one drive had any problems. All backups ended successfully.
Any other suggestions to find out why mc is not working?
Thanks,
Patrick

Re: mc: 0x0 sense information
If it was working before, which it
sounds like it was. Perhaps a reset of
the library would resolve the issue ??
Is that feasable ? Sometimes things can
get a little confused and a reset will
resolve the issue.

dbk.

Re: mc: 0x0 sense information
Setup has been done recently. Server, library and FC-SCSI router have been rebooted several times. The 'mc' command has not been working from the beginning.
We have a similar setup at a different location (HP-UX server, STK L700 libraries with LTO drives) where we do not have this problem.
