MC/SG and Oracle Application 11.5.8
Now I have to design infrastructure architecture for my company.
So I don't khnow how to design for this project:
2 node HP9000 rp5430 cluster.
Install Oracle Application 11.5.8 in this.
DO I install Oracle Application on 2 nodes, or just one node, after that configure MC/SG.
Do I need a software for Oracle Application.
Thanks for reading this measage

Re: MC/SG and Oracle Application 11.5.8
Here is one place to start. Take a look at the "Managing MC/ServiceGuard" manual on this link. It is a good place to start.
As for installing your Oracle, you can install it on local disks or on shared disks that will failover. The advantage of putting it on shared disks is that you don't have to worry about maintaining two copies [patches, etc.].
When you ask about software for the Oracle Application, do you mean for ServiceGuard? MC/SG does have an Oracle toolkit which has some great scripts for starting and stopping your database, but you don't have to have it.

Re: MC/SG and Oracle Application 11.5.8
step1: Install the HP-UX OS on both machine
This can be done by HP-Engineer
step2: Install the OS clustering software.
This can be done by HP-Engineer
step3: Install The Oracle Application 11.5.8 with cluster virtual host name.
This can be install by you provided you have the Software.
When you go in for clustering you need to go for external storage box where all the Application file system & Database resides.
You need to choose the 2 node installation while installing the Oracle Apps & need to perform the installation on both the servers.

Re: MC/SG and Oracle Application 11.5.8
I had seen your mail just today and have some thoughts.
YOU CAN DO IT WITH OUT ANY TRAINING ,PROVIDED YOU EXERT YOURSELF READING DOCUMENTATION AND PARTICIPATING IN THIS FORUM
If Oracle is the rdbs cluster package go for the MCSG Oracle tool kit from HP,highly recommended becoz these tools will do a great task monitoring and failing over the package effectively.
You may install the oracle Binaries to both machines or may install on to the shared drive.Better is to have the oracle software installed on to both the machines and the data in the share disk.
The sequence of installtion would be
1.Install HP Unix
2.Install Oracle
3.Install all latest HP UX and MCSG patches(Quality Pack or Gold Pack )
4.Install MCSG and Oracle toolkit for MCSG
if you would like to have a cook book on this mail me jinu19@rediffmail.com
With best regards
Jinu
