MCSG version difference

Hi All,

I have a two node cluster of 2*N4000/HP-UX 11.00/MCSG ver. A.11.12.

I want to add a new rp8400/HP-UX 11.11/MCSG ver. A.11.15 to it.

I believe that we cannot join nodes with different MCSG version.

I have checked and found that the latest MCSG version available on HP-UX 11.00 is A.11.14.

Is the MCSG ver. A.11.15 available on HP-UX 11.00? If yes, then from where can I get it.
If not, then how can I join the new rp8400 to the 2* N-Class cluster?

You can have mixed version clusters, but it is typically only during an upgrade of MCSG.

The 11.00 June 2003 Apps CDs have MCSG A.11.14 whilst the 11.11 June 2003 Apps CDs have MCSG A.11.15.

If you want the same version on your new machine, the only thing I can suggest is to get a copy of the March 2003 11.11 Applications CDs and install MCSG A.11.14.

At least that way they are the same.

The other way is to upgrade the OS on the current 2-node cluster and upgrade MCSG too.

I am not aware of any link that is available that will allow you to download the software. Other forum contributors may be able to provide that.

I would log a call with your local response centre and request a copy of the version you are after.

Thanks. I got the MCSG ver. A.11.14 for HP-UX 11.11.

I want to upgrade the MCSG A.11.12 of hpux 11.00 to HP-UX 11.14.

I have moved all the packages running on node B to Node A. and halted the node B with #cmhaltnode

Can I upgrade the MCSG version in node B and then join it to the node A?

Then move all the packages to B and then upgrade MCSG version in A.

Without knowing your environment, I think it would be advantageous for you to refer to the Managing MC/Service Guard manual. See the chapter entitled Rolling Software Upgrades. The chapter explains exactly what is required.

Hello! You have available the 11,15 in the ITRC:
B3935DA 11,11 A.11.15.00 HP-ux Server 01 Jul the 2003.
documents with the improvements are also in the Web. If you decide to update to the 11.14 or the 11.15, I remember to you you execute the commands of cluster in the machine that has the highest version.
