Messages in dmesg on J5000

I have gotten a bunch of the following messages on my J5000 workstation recently:

mpc_bindlwp: Overriding conflicting mandatory binding!
mpc_bindlwp: Migrating process 16629 from processor 1 to processor 0!

What do these mean and are they anything to worry about?

My J5000 has 2 processors (440 MHz) and 2 GB of RAM. I am running on HP-UX 11.0 64 bit.

One of the first items is to look at the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log and seei if the messages are in there. If so, what is the time-date stamp?

This could be an older message that is no longer causing problems.

Patrick:

There appears to be a patch to fix this defect: PHKL_21420.

All of the messages were from Oct. 5. Was there a problem somewhere that caused that or is it a normal HP-UX 11 message? Do I need to be concerned if it occurrs again?

Re: Messages in dmesg on J5000

If you have the DIAGS loaded and access to the stm program, you can see if there are any problems with one of the processors.

Re: Messages in dmesg on J5000

Does anyone know if this is harmful, or is it just annoying. Sounds to me by looking at the patches that stm does some naughty stuff on multi-processor machines.

I'm trying to determine if it is better to ignore the messages now or figure out which patches to install without breaking something else.
