Mirroring root : lvol1 not on first sector of mirrored disk

Hi

A new to HP-UX unix sys admin has set up mirroring for the internal disks (vg00) of a new system. However the first lv of the mirror disk is a customised lv and not lvol1. I always understood that lvol1 should be the first mirror.
Is this still true ? What "problems" might it cause on the first boot disk failing?

Hi!

The correct order of the lvols for the boot disks is:

lvol1 /stand
lvol2 swap+dump
lvol3 /

If you don't follow this, then your system wont boot because in the boot sequence the kernel will not be found. You need to move the customized lv before you make the mirror in the correct way. Another thing more, if you wanto to mark a disk as bootable, you must initialize it with a pvcreate -B for the boot space reservation.

Thank you - its been a while since I'd set one up myself and our new sys admin did it whislt I was away and I just wanted to confirm that I was correct in thinking it will need re-doing.
