Misterious Memory Window error
Hello people,
Just attempting to explain an error.
Running Oracle 8.1.7.4 on HP-UX 11.0
Found an Oracle alert log file named "alert_.log" in directory SORACLE_HOME/rdbms/log.
The file includes a time stamp with the message "Unable to use Memory Window".
There are no entries anywhere else in either Oracle or HP-UX admin logs around the time of the time stamp.
The system continued to perform smoothly.
Can someone explain what happened?
How come the UNIX generated error message was posted to the default Oracle alert destination instead of the active Oracle alert destination?
Low priority, but I just hate unexplained events.
Thanks.

Re: Misterious Memory Window error
heh, consult your DBA
oracle has it's own ini type settings so it writes its own errors to its own files
chances are something is either not configured right with your redo logs or simply something within oracle is running and you are not utilizing it

Re: Misterious Memory Window error
Thanks for the recommendation but...
I'm the DBA.
Then I raised a TAR on metalink where the Oracle support analyst recommended I address myself to HP support.
Just testing the waters to decide whether it's worth raising more fuss.
Take care.
