Modifying package config file

Hi Everyone ,

1. Can we do a package failover to the node which is not mentioned in the package configuration file?

2. For adding the node to the package do we need to bring down the package , or we can add the node in package configuration file and cmapply it online?

Regards
Arun

Re: Modifying package config file

Arun,

1. No you can't. A node name has to be in the pkg conf file in order for you to failover to it.

2. This can be done with the package still online... see the table here:

Re: Modifying package config file

Hi,

Logically, how the cluster binary file should aware of this new node to be able to run the package?

So, first you should add the new node into cluster binary( by means of adding into pkg ascii file, then cmcheckconf, cmapplyconf).

This can be added online without halting the package. But you should take care of other things like, making the lvm configuration available on the new node, copying the pkg control script to the new node etc...
Best wishes,

Ganesh.
