mounting DVD on itanium rx2660
it appears that '/usr/sbin/ioscan -funC disk' on my itanium rx2660 server does not correctly report the DVD-ROM.
There is no entry with ROM or DV or TEAC, etc. as is reported on various websites.
any ideas on this one?

Re: mounting DVD on itanium rx2660
Here's the DVD ROM on my rx2660:
#ioscan -funC disk
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===============================================================================
disk 11 0/0/2/1.0.16 UsbScsiAdaptor CLAIMED DEVICE USB SCSI Stack Adaptor
/dev/deviceFileSystem/Usb/MassStorage/dsk/disk@hp-1008+294=A60020000001
/dev/deviceFileSystem/Usb/MassStorage/rdsk/disk@hp-1008+294=A60020000001
Yes... those really are the device file names.

# ioscan -kfnC disk
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description

disk 0 0/0/3/0.0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE TEAC DV-28E-N

If you have some different HW it would be helpfull to specify what you think you have and the version of OS. And, as mentioned, share with us the output of ioscan -kfn so we can help instead of guess.

Re: mounting DVD on itanium rx2660
Same hardware, the OS makes the difference.
Hope this helps!

No, different hardware - mine was a USB DVD-ROM like the one on nicholas's system... Tim's was a SCSI DVD-ROM

Re: mounting DVD on itanium rx2660
Hint:
create a more easy to use softlink, e.g. /dev/cdrom
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
