Moving forward with EMC
Hey guys!!
We're finally getting things hooked up. To start, we have 1 rx7640 with 2 X AH401A's hooked to a CX4. The EMC engineer hooked up everything, and I immediately noticed sever performance degradation from a disk standpoint. And ioscan -fnC disk takes literally minutes to return. I'll start at the beginning here. If there's any files you need to review, please let me know.
Regards,
Ron

Re: Moving forward with EMC
Sorry to say, there is your problem CX4.
Seriously though, check you log files.
There should be plenty in there.
I'm guessing the HBAs don't like the CX4 or your zoning isn't set.
What's your topology, are you using FC switches of direct connect.
OS version and patches up to date?
Start with only one HBA connected and see if that works better.
Trevor.

Baldric, I have a plan so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasle.

Re: Moving forward with EMC
Ron,
Is this with 11iv3? There are plenty of posts on the forums about the specific settings you need on a Clariion with 11iv3 - they are specifically different from what you have with 11iv2. For a starter you need to make sure you have the CX4 on at least FLARE26 and use "failover mode 4" (ALUA) on the LUNs presented to the 11iv3 box...
Do a forum search for clariion and 11iv3 (or 11.31) for more pointers...

Re: Moving forward with EMC
Ron,
You might want to download and run EMCGrab for HP-UX to make sure you're meeting the minimum requirements.
