Re: Moving VG between two VA-7400

Hi,

Well, if you really want to MOVE it and not just copy it, you can:
extend the VG to include the 2nd array. Then use pvmove to move the data from the 1st array to the 2nd array. And then I'd guess you would want to export the array so they can just import it at the other site.

Re: Moving VG between two VA-7400

Ok, let see if I have this right:

(1) VA7400-1 has production data on it.

(2) VA7400-2 is empty.

(3) you need to move A VA7400 to another office.

(4) You need to move the data from VA7400-1 to VA7400-2.

If this is right, then this should work:

(1) Attach ONE system to BOTH va's, probably through a brocade switch.

(2) Set up mirroring.

(3) When in sync, and no, not the little boy pop lip sync'ers, then split logical volumes

(4) pack and ship!

Re: Moving VG between two VA-7400

Chris,

It can be a move or a copy of data, just I want speed in the process, I have a window of 3 hours aprox. for 140GB, what do you think?

Regards.

Harry, you are right, one copy or move to the 2nd VA, at this time I have connected the 2 VA via two redundant hubs S10.

I'm searching for a tip to do this in the less time possible

thanks for your help to all
