MS Windows to Samba 3.0.7 share
Upgraded CIFS Server to A.02.01.02 and am having a strange problem connecting from Windows desktops and workstations. When using the "net use" command on Windows with the /user switch I am now required to enter a servername before the username.
For example, prior to the upgrade I could run "net use \\server\share password /user:username" and it would connect to the share. Now I must run "net use \\server\share password /user:server\username.
I am using the same smb.conf I used before the upgrade. Don't know if this is related to the LDAP requirement or not. Just trying to make sense before I upgrade my production servers.

Re: MS Windows to Samba 3.0.7 share
Eric,
I think I had this after the upgrade I did.
I seem to remeber that the samba server had to be added as a guest computer to the windows domain controller.
If this is not the case let me know and I will did out the notes I had when I upgraded.

Re: MS Windows to Samba 3.0.7 share
Thanks for the reply. I really would like to avoid any integration with our domain controllers.

Re: MS Windows to Samba 3.0.7 share
It would be helpful to see your smb.conf file. There also might be helpful messages in the log file defined in the smb.conf file. Perhaps take a look and post up some info here.
When you say LDAP requirement, is that internal to your company? Because you don't need LDAP to use Samba but it can be a helpful integration tool for authentication.
