Hello,

I have intermittent problems receiving multicast message at my HPUX 11 or HPUX 10.2 nodes. Just wanted to know if there are any known HPUX issues with handling multicast.

The only thing I have seen is if you are using IPSec/9000 and IPv6. IPSec/9000 does not support multicast IPv6 addresses.

You might want to see if there is a correlatoin bewteen the intermittent multicast receive problems and packet drop statistics such as netstat -p udp or netstat -p ip or lanadmin.


The 10.20 and 11 networking stacks are completely different implementations, so the likelihood of their having the same multicast recv bug, while non-zero, is likely small.

NIC drivers between 10.20 and 11 have much more in common with one another, so the usual "be up on the latest patches" for your drivers might be goodness, although my initial suspicion would be with packet drops someplace.
