multiple ignite server in one subnet
I`ve several HP-UX 11.23 Servers (Itanium) in one subnet. I need to make images of the rootdg. There are no tapes or other (not important) HP-UX systems so I've planed to make one as ignite-server and make the images with make_net_recovery. That should work.
Now, I should also be able to make an image of the ignite server. I`ve planed to make a second HP-UX server as ignite server(2) and this one should take the image of ignite server(1). I've learned that I cannot choose my server when I boot with "boot lan install". If I need a restore wouldn't it be possible to disable the "bootserver" functionality" on the one I do not need? And how to do it? Just change the /etc/bootptab and reread it? Or better, only enable "bootserver functionality" on ignite server(2) if I need a restore of server(1)?
Sorry for the silly questions but it's 5 years since I worked with ignite and bootptab....
Any help and links are highly welcome

Re: multiple ignite server in one subnet
you *can* choose your server:
boot lan.1.2.3.4 install
with 1.2.3.4 is the server's ip-address

Re: multiple ignite server in one subnet
boot lan.1.2.3.4 install
whould not work even with Itanium. You are specifying the IP of the server to boot from. I can't find anything to the contrary in the docs I have. For what it's worth.

Re: multiple ignite server in one subnet
So now I was able to test the whole thing. Not the re-install itself but until the "ok-install". What I`ve done (perhaps someone can use this information):
I have now 2 Ignite Server in the same subnet (All servers are RXsomething with HP-UX11.23). A boot lan.IP install does not work. I have to add a new boot option in the "Boot option maintenance window" - "networkboot" with the lan device I made the make-net-reovery. Then I boot via this option. The faster of the both igniteserver answers and I get the "minimum-OS" I need. After this I can choose the network informations and also the ignite-server I want. Then I get the usual menue for advanced installation etc and I can choose the images.
This should work as long as I have nothing but Itanium/HP-UX 11.23.
Thanks all for your help
