mwa: number of cpu's per process
hello together,
for a reporting i need to know, how many cpu's
a process has used during its lifetime on a multi-procesor-system (via mwa-extract). i've read mostly all descriptions of the proc_metrics but couldn't find what i need.
any ideas out there?
thx in advance - ralf

Re: mwa: number of cpu's per process
Hmm, tough one.
I doubt very much this metric is available. I also doubt that once a process has started the OS would shift it around between different CPU's while it was running - I think it stays with the cpu it starts under. You can do it manually with a command, but I dont think the OS does it. Possibly with PRM (Process Reource Manager) it would happen depending on how you configure it.

Re: mwa: number of cpu's per process
Unless the process is multi-threaded, it will only use one CPU. It can be sent to another CPU if the one it was on was busy, but HPUX tries not to do this since it takes cycles to switch processors.
